Revision as of 14:53, 20 October 2014

Welcome to the 2015 Pacific hurricane season betting pools! Enjoy!

To keep it fun, don't bet on storms that have already formed!

NOTE: Calm down, dear! No actual betting is going on here! (Created by Rara)

One many of the sections here, we generally don't do. Two, it's too early to make any accurate long-range predictions. We need to see if El Nino is going to finish the job. If it was up to me only, I'd delete it and re-create in a few months. YE Pacific Hurricane 16:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Well just do strangest storm then. That pool is for creativity, as always. “i liek turtlez 16:23, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
YE, the point of these betting pools is for users to have fun with their seasonal predictions. They don't need to be realistic, and as a matter of fact, some users have gone crazy with their bets in the past. If you don't want to participate now, that's fine, but there are also users like me who want to express our predictions. AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 17:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
2015 PHS's forum should be created before the betting pool, IMO.--Isaac829E-Mail 19:32, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
^. YE Pacific Hurricane 19:34, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
I agree with you, Isaac! We should have the forums created before the betting pools are made. --Steve820 |Chat With MeMy Edits 19:39, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Well, instead of complaining that the forum's not made, why can't someone be bold and create it him or herself? AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 19:54, September 6, 2014 (UTC)

Exactly! :) “i liek turtlez 21:00, September 6, 2014 (UTC)

Eh, some of these I find to be unnecessary. For starters, we can always bet on when what we think will be the strangest storm will form, and why do we have a subtropical storms section here? The waters in the Pacific Ocean are usually too warm to support subtropical cyclones, we have had what, only one or two STS's in the EPac in the history of ever? And another thing. For the intensity section, why don't we just put how many total depressions, total storms, total hurricanes, and total major hurricanes we think will form. That'll make things less confusing. Ryan1000 21:06, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that sounds fair.

Informal betting on date of formation of first storm

  • June 1 to 10 - I'm torn here what to put. I think it's very likely that in the future, we are going to see more early and pre (and we already have, the last 3 years have warranted pre-season special TWO's) season systems due to the weat Shael rainfall phase. However, the MJO patterns and calculations suggest as well as the El Nino if we don't get one this year, would favor a June start. YE Pacific Hurricane 23:00, September 6, 2014 (UTC)

Informal betting on formation date

When will that storm form? Like the strangest storm section, this is just for fun, and there will likely be no winner. So please do not cross out the names as they form, and please 'don't bet on those storms that have already formed'!

Eastern Pacific:

Central Pacific: Names will be announced on January 1, 2015.

Informal betting on strangest storm

What storm do you think will shred the rules of climatology the most? Please tell why, it makes it more fun. And let your imagination run wild!

This section is just for fun. There will likely be no winner. Because of this, please do not cross out the names as they form. Also, please DO NOT bet on a storm that has already formed.

  • Guillermo - Becomes the first hurricane to make landfall in Mexico (C4) and Alaska (TD) as a single system, while reaching Category 5 intensity. AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 17:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
  • Hilda -
  • Ignacio -
  • Jimena - First hurricane in history to transform from a Category 5 into an alicorn princess. All because of that darn dragoneqqus. His name is Discord. Tirek then comes along and takes all her alicorn magic, leaving the Princesses Jimena, Celestia, Luna, Cadance and Twilight powerless. Nevermind, she gets her alicorn magic back. Jimena then declares that Diamond Tiara is worst pony. Okay... she then murders a zebra and punches a snowman, then throws the EWWBELCHPLOPEWWWWWICK mixture all the way to Yorkshire. rarity is best pony 21:36, September 15, 2014 (UTC)
  • Kevin - Rapidly strengthens to 190 mph/890 mbars becoming the strongest storm ever in the EPac, and then hits California as a C2 and Alaska as a TD. --Steve820 |Chat With MeMy Edits 19:49, September 6, 2014 (UTC)

  • Felicia - Like Fausto in 2002, only more of a spiral and hits C1 intensity far north of Hawaii. AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 17:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
  • Guillermo - Very crazy, loops twice before Mexican landfall, tracks straight westwards, then parallels the U.S. and Canadian West Coasts to Alaska. Thousands are shocked by this abnormality. AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 17:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
  • Hilda - Similar to Odile from 2008. AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 17:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)

  • Jimena - Repeats Blanca from 1985, but curves closer towards Mexico. AndrewTalk To MeContribsMail Me 17:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC) Copy of all the past Jimenas put together. Turns people into zombie-slaying penguins. rarity is best pony 01:38, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

  • Olaf - Forms in the middle of the East Pacific basin, then tracks all the way to Arendale in Norway, dropping 12 inches of snow every hour from the EPAC basin to Arendale. Then, the snow itself will create an army of evil snowmen everywhere in Olaf's path, and eventually all of them will wreck any buildings in their paths. “i liek turtlez 23:11, September 2, 2014 (UTC) Repeat of Fausto from 2014.
