Hurricane Alex makes landfall
Hurricane Alex was the first named storm and first hurricane of the active 2010 Atlantic hurricane season. Forming from a vigorous wave in the Caribbean Sea, Alex intensified to make landfall near Belize City, Belize, before rapidly strengthening into a category 2 hurricane off the coast of the border of Texas and Mexico, where it soon made landfall.
